a couple mamba 25 problems

February 28th, 2010 by admin | 1 Comment | Filed in RC Car Deals
i got a mamba 25 in a xtm rage running a ezrun motor, i have a problem with reverse. at full throttle reverse is real slow and glitchy, but if i let off the throttle alittle reverse is fine. programing problem maybe?

next is the on off switch, when i trun the switch off after running, the car takes off in reverse glitching pretty bad. i changed the switch with a know good switch off a brushed esc..
but when i turn on the radio with the switch off it stays off until i turn it on.
its like once its powered up,somehow power is backfeeding somehow

custom maxx buggy/truggy

February 28th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
Had an older t-maxx sitting around along with some other various parts that were just collecting dust and I was wanting to start a new project so the idea of a maxx buggy/truggy jumped into my head and I hit the AutoCAD and came up with this. The front will have a few degrees of kickup somewhat shown in the rendering. This chassis will put the wheelbase somewhere around 13.75".

Just sent the plans to laserfab to get cutout. Total comes to $53 to get this and another chassis for my 4wd SC truck cutout of 1/8" aluminum. Should have it in no more than 2 weeks.

I will be using a ofna center diff from a lx-1e and to power this will be a novak 6.5 brushless sensored system.

All that Im really using from the t-maxx is the front and rear suspension/diff setups. Now Im not sure how long the stock diffs will hold up but once they fail I will upgrade to ones from a 3.3 t-maxx. I don't want to sink too much money into this project, and that usually occurs from upgrading parts that don't need to be, so I will only be upgrading as parts fail.

front again

For steering Im using a ofna servo saver/bellcrank setup. It was a spare I had laying around from a ofna buggy I sold.

Just some O'Donnell aluminum dogbones to transfer the power from the center diff to the front and rear diffs.

So far the only parts I had to buy for this project were the ofna cnc motor plate (from a lx-1e) for the center diff. Also had to pickup the inner drive cups for the front and rear diffs. Other than those 2 and a few replacement t-maxx parts (front bulkheads and stub axles) I had everthing else that I needed to do this project. Also have a set of truggy tires and some 17mm hub adapters on their way as well. Once finished I will be on the search for a body that will fit.

Now just waiting to get my chassis plate.

More to come as I progress

RS4 3 Stage D Rebuild

February 27th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
Got one main question for ya'll. I am looking into rebuilding my HPI RS4 3 18SS with Stage D conversion kit, and I am needing some missing parts. I know that HPI makes the newer RS4 3 Drift, but was wondering if these parts will fit the Stage D setup. I looked at the manuals for both vehicles, but none of the part numbers match up. I know this technically doesn't mean yes or no, but was hoping that somebody might actually know a definitive answer to this question. Thanks for any assistance!

Dodge Charger Body

February 27th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
Hello all,
I own a real 2007 Dodge Charger RT and thought it would be great to have a Charger body for my Nitro RS4 and paint it the same color as my real car. For as popular of a car as it seems to be I cannot find a body for sale anywhere. I know they existed at some point from what I saw in here...

Did protoform stop making this body? If so, does anyone else? Thanks.

Barry Baker and O’Donnell win at 2010 Motorama

Latest race news from O'Donnell Racing:

Harrisburg, PA
February 20-21

Just as they did last year, the O’Donnell Team came into Motorama with something to prove. This time it was with three new cars, the Z01-B SG, Z01-T SG and the Z01-E. On-road legend and team driver Barry Baker was also out to prove that he could run with some of the best off-road drivers in the country.

Electric 1/8 Buggy

Baker went out in the first round and set a blistering pace, taking the TQ for the round. When all the rounds were finished and the qual points were tallied, Baker ended up second overall. In the main, however, Baker had other plans — he took the early lead and never looked back. The brand new Z01-E never missed a beat either, proving that it will be a car to reckon with. Baker also used the Team Checkpoint 5000 / 40c LiPo racing packs to provide the juice needed to take the win.

Nitro 1/8 Pro Buggy

Disappointed with his second qualifying spot in electric buggy, Baker laid the smack down and proved to everyone that on-road drivers CAN drive off-road! Besides the excellent drive by the “Fabulous One”, the Z01-B SG was extremely impressive in its national debut, taking the overall TQ in the premiere class. Unfortunately, a few miscues in the main event dropped Baker back to a sixth place finish.

Nitro 1/8 Pro Truggy

If other drivers don’t know this by now, the last thing you want to do is motivate Baker…all it does is make him drive harder and faster…and that’s what he did in the truggy main event. The first half of the race saw an epic battle between Baker and Jason Ashton…some people even stated it was one of the best races they ever saw. After Ashton had a slight issue, Phillip Atondo was there to pick up the slack and another epic chase began. In the end, the “Fabulous One” took the win in pro truggy.

Once again, O’Donnell proved that you don’t want to mess with the underdog, because you might get bitten!
