out with the nitro, in with the brushless

December 31st, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
Well thats the last of the nitros in my collection. I started out getting back into the hobby with a nitro, bought a few more then started switching to the electrics (as I had more of a liking to the first time I was in the hobby).

I just purchased a Novak 6.5 brushless conversion kit for my Ofna Ultra MBX buggy. I couldn't pass up the deal. 4 for everything needed for the conversion in 1 kit. Was just getting tired of the extra hassle running nitro, not to mention the and up fuel prices.

Charging 2/3A battery packs for mini LST2

December 31st, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
What charger are you guys using to charge the Losi Mini-T and LST-2 2/3 A battery packs? I have been out of the hobby for a few years and bought my son a Mini LST2 for Christmas. We used the wall charger to charge his packs for the last few days but its getting old. 5-6 hour charge time are crazy. A local shop sold me a Duratrax Intellipeak Deluxe pulse charger. I don't think it agrees with the small packs. Im using a converted PC power supply to power it. Its peaks in less than 10 minutes and the packs are far from charged.

Any suggestions..... and what charger are you using?

thanks

Nitro Truggy to Nitro SC Conversion

December 31st, 2009 by admin | 1 Comment | Filed in RC Car Deals
Well, its time for another project! I've already converted my Protos buggy into a VW Baja 1000 rig, mainly with a body swap from Pro Line, and a set of AE SC8 tires/wheels. Looks right for what I want.

Now, the next deal is converting my Mantis truggy into a 4WD nitro short course truck. I'm not going to get an SC8 any time soon, so why not convert a dust collecting rig ito a lookalike?I'm not racing, so the 'performance' isn't the only goal here.

I am almost 100% sure the SC8 body will drop right on, with some modified body mounts and the narrower track. The Protos/BR50 arms and dogbones should get it to the same basic width as the Protos, but with a longer wheelbase to fit the shell.

So, is there anyone making any other tires for the SC8 wheels? They're by far the most 'scale' looking wheels, but it seems like everything's been lumped into the 1/10 SC trucks, or converting the 12mm drives to 17 so they can run the ugly buggy wheels.

Anything I'm missing? Any better body options? The Pro Line Carnage Desert Rat doesn't seem to be out anymore, just the Hard Core. I'll try to keep pics and updates coming, just to add to the amount of extraneous conversion chatter we already get =)

RC8e and other 1:8 electrics…your takes?

All:

I'm aiming to get back into RC racing in 2010, and at the local tracks, it looks like 1:8 cars and trucks are the dominant weapons of choice.

I've been impressed at how much up to par the electrics are with the gas, and since I'm really not interested in going to gas, I was wondering what you all think of the 1:8 off-road electrics. In particular, I am leaning more and more towards the Associated RC8e buggy.

What do you like/dislike about 1:8 electrics? Be honest!

Guys Come On

What has happened to this site????????

I joined this site in 2006 and back then clicking NEW POSTS would get you 2-5 full pages of new posts in just a few hours.

This was the first RC site I joined and actually posted in and it was a GREAT SITE.

Over these years I've watched posts dwindling, its always said ''oh posts always go down ''this'' time of year'' but it seems they never seem to go back up.
Its just painfull to hit the new posts and just see not much more than 10-15 posts in a 24 hour period.

I know there were some people really flaming everyone but it seems they have either left or got themselves under control.

This used to be one of the best rc sites on the net, with so many very helpfull members.
We used to have fun here guys what has happened that has turned the great Radio Control Zone into a ghost site??????

B44 Build

December 31st, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
In the process of doing my B44 now.

It's pretty much done just a bit confused over a few things so need a hand.

Using the standard tire/foam/wheels that come with the B44, how should I go about doing it? (Not sure what to glue first)

Not sure if i've done the diffs quite right (not enough lube perhaps) as when you turn one wheel they all turn in the same direction and I thought that wasn't meant to happen? :S

Other thing is it seems way too loud (only when motor is in). I seem to be mounting the motor correctly but it just doesn't seem to mesh that well, I think that may be the problem. I'm using a 48 pitch pinion which I believe is correct?

Only thing I have managed to conquer is fitting in the massive lipos I've bought :D

engine+pull start problems

December 31st, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in RC Car Deals
Im new to the nitro business and I just got a nitro buggy. it has an .32 force engine with a pull start. I can never make the engine stay on without it stalling and it keeps on eating glow plugs. In three days I used 3 glow plugs and they all still burn out. What am I doing wrong? Also when the buggy finally starts part of the pull starter melts on to the muffler. Is there a way to fix this? please help, ill try anything

NewB problem

I'm putting together my AX-10 ARTR with a Spektrum DX3 radio and a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC. My problem is that I can't get the radio to bind with the reciever. I have the battery running into the ESC and a wire running from the ESC to the throttle hole in the reciever. Am I doing something compleatly wrong? I go to turn on the ESC and the LED is very faint and just blinks slowly no matter what I do to it. If anyone could help me out with this, I would greatly appriciate it.
